The Perfect Pizza from Delfina Pizzaria

Dear Good Lunchers,

What makes a good pizza?  Because pizza is a staple in everyone’s diet – or should be if it isn’t – we all have opinions on what makes a superb pizza.  Is it the crust, sauce, cheese, or toppings?  Or is it blissful harmony between all four features?  Well we could analyze and discuss forever, but in the meantime Pizzeria Delfina has found brilliant cohesiveness in every pizza feature thus making the BEST pizza in San Francisco.  And we, at Good Lunch, just so happen to deliver the excellent, renowned, delectable pizza at Pizzeria Delfina.

Pizzeria Delfina has a PhD in thin-crust pizza that tastes like the mouth-watering pizza in the piazzas of Italy.  It’s heaven in a pie and here is why:

  • The crust is airy, charred and light – the perfect combination of crisp and chewy.
  • The sauce is perfection and has several dimensions of splendor: sweet, tangy and heaven maybe?!
  • The cheeses, oh the cheeses… each pie has a different cheese or a combination of a few to include mozzarella, fontal, provolone, pecorino, caciocavallo (never heard of it, but just go with it), and parmigiano.  The succulent cheeses taste like they have a cow and goat out back and are making the cheese on site (they’re not though).
  • The toppings, let’s just say we think prosciutto and arugula were meant to be paired together, but who knew?!  Well Pizzeria Delfina knew.

Pizzeria Delfina has done it right.  The ratio between crust to sauce to cheese to toppings = exquisite.  Any statistician would be impressed.

So login to Good Lunch and order from Pizzeria Delfina for your next meeting or event.  You’ll be hearing the sounds of the piazza as you dive into this delectable pizza and your taste buds will be singing in Italian.  Yes, it’s THAT good!  Buon appetito!

Ciao, and Happy Lunching!

Pizza Pizza!

Dear Good Lunchers,

Pizza takes three forms: good, bad and so-so – with varying degrees of course.  Luckily you have Good Lunch as your trusted pizza confidant and we would never offer you bad or so-so pizza, only the good stuff from us.  That’s why we’re giddy to introduce the popular pizza that makes you go mmmmMMM!, Goat Hill Pizza as Good Lunch‘s newest restaurant addition.  Yippee!

Goat Hill Pizza, known for making delicious sourdough pizza crust, has been locally owned for more than 35 years.  They bake their pizza in a traditional brick oven; use fresh local ingredients, provolone and mozzarella cheeses, sourdough crust, and make their own rich and savory pizza sauce.  Their sourdough crust is especially noteworthy, crispy and chewy, something San Franciscans can be proud of.  They offer a myriad of pizza toppings so you can create your own pizza, or choose one of their creative specialty pizzas aimed to delight the toughest pizza critic.  Check these out:

  • Hilda’s Favorite – goat cheese, pesto, fresh tomatoes
  • Californian – fresh tomatoes, fresh artichoke hearts and garlic
  • Meat Lover’s  – salami, pepperoni and Italian sausages
  • Chicken Florentine – grilled chicken, spinach, mushroom

Goat Hill Pizza makes pizza that even a “pizza connoisseur” would approve of.  Those that usually don’t eat the crust after gobbling the toppings portion will devour the crust – it’s THAT good!  The sourdough goodness, mixed with the zesty homemade sauce, 2 cheeses and fresh crisp toppings will leave everyone saying, “We’ve found pizza heaven!

Ditch the lines for Ike’s Place!

Dear Good Lunchers,

The sandwich takes many different forms.  So it’s unfair to categorize anything between two slices of bread as the same – because it could come from a gas station, or a gourmet sandwich shop.  With that necessary disclaimer to set apart the bad from the really excellent, we are proud to announce the award-winning, show stopping Ike’s Place - sandwich shop extraordinaire – as Good Lunch‘s newest restaurant addition.

Ike’s Place opened in 2007 and in its short 5-year existence has received Best of the Bay and San Francisco awards year after year and notable claim from shows such as Man v. Food that voted Ike’s sandwiches as the best in San Francisco, if not the entire Bay Area.

Ike’s original and scrumptious sandwiches boast unforgettable names as well as unforgettable flavor.  Every sandwich comes with Ike’s secret concoction of “dirty sauce” baked into the bread. Every sandwich also comes with choice of bread: Dutch crunch (their signature bread), sourdough, gluten free, white and wheat.  With that said, let us paint you a picture; crusty yet soft bread, juicy meats (unless you’re a veggie and it’s juicy veggies), and then throw on your favorite fixing: mozzarella sticks, jalapeno peppers OR poppers, avocado, pesto OR other fab sauces, ANY cheese you can dream of and MORE – we’re getting too excited, besides, we know you don’t have all day.  Check out these remarkable sandwiches that will make you salivate:

  • Menage A Trois – halal chicken, real honey, honey mustard, bbq, pepper jack, swiss, cheddar
  • Tony Soprano – ham, turkey, salami, Italian dressing, provolone
  • Lincecum – ham, turkey, bacon, avocado, Havarti
  • Lex Luthor – chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, French dressing, mozzarella sticks, American, thinly sliced rib eye (OMG!)

For the vegetarians there are a myriad of tantalizing offerings as well:

  • Vegan Strawberry Girl – cucumber, lettuce, tomato, Asian sesame dressing, soy cheese
  • Meatless Mike – vegan meatballs, marinara, pepper jack
  • Vegan Mobile Mamma – vegan breaded chicken, frank’s red hot, soy cheese

The list goes on and on and on, and we don’t want to make you drench your desk with your salivation, so we’ll stop there.  Ike’s creative sandwiches give the word, “sandwich” a new definition.  You’ll take it upon yourself to come up with a new name for these extraordinary, delectable creations referred to as Ike’s Place sandwiches after you’ve had your first bite.

So, do yourself and everyone else around you a favor and order from Ike’s Place for your next meeting or event.  You will be SO happy you did!  Log on to Good Lunch, or, as always, call us and we’ll take care of everything for you!

Happy Sandwiching!

Nick is back, and he’s tastier than ever!

Dear Good Lunchers,

We love Nick!  Who is Nick you ask?  Nick of “Nick’s Crispy Tacos” fame of course!  If you don’t know Nick, or Nick’s Crispy Tacos, refer to our Cinco de Mayo newsletter last year.  Just kidding, we’ll recap.  We introduced Nick’s Crispy Tacos (genuine, undeniably tasty Mexican food) last Cinco de Mayo.  Well, we couldn’t wait until Cinco de Mayo this year to introduce Nick’s newest, cherished, downright delicious creation: Tacko!

Tacko‘s belief system, or foundation if-you-will, is the fresh, delicious, authentic Mexican food that we San Franciscans dream about, and let’s be honest, live on.  Raise your hand if you don’t have at least one burrito a week!  We thought so…  Tacko leaves nothing to be desired.  In fact, you’ll need to order from Tacko multiple times just to satisfy your curiosity and thirst to try their menu items.  Check it out:

  • Lobster roll: (Where are we? Maine?!) Filled with succulent pieces of buttery Maine lobster on a delicately toasted buttered roll, served with lemon and a bag of Cape Cod chips.  You will thank the lobster for giving his life to make this roll because it is that delicious!
  • California Burrito: Cheese, French fries, pico de gallo salsa, with choice of carne asada, carnitas, or pollo.  French fries in a burrito?  Seems a bit out there, but believe us, it’s oh so tasty!!
  • TACOS! – Pollo, carnitas, carne asada, vegitariano – whatever your flavor your taste buds will be doing the happy dance, especially if you order them “Nick’s Way;” grilled crispy corn tortilla and a soft tortilla with Monterey Jack cheese, pinto beans, pico de gallo, and guacamole – drool…

So don’t delay, this week’s Mexican fix needs to be from Tacko, where fresh ingredients and creativity come together in scrumptious, tantalizing fare.  Nick is back, and he’s tastier than ever!

To order from Tacko, login and place your order.  OR, call us and we’ll do it all for you!

Happy Lunching!

The Luck of the Irish is coming your way!

Dear Good Lunchers,

St. Patrick’s Day is next Saturday, March 17th and Good Lunch knows exactly what your office needs on the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day; some hearty, celebratory food that will prepare everyone’s spirits (and stomachs) for an Irish party!

The beauty of St. Patrick’s Day is you don’t have to be Irish in order to celebrate.  St Paddy’s Day, as it’s affectionately referred to, is an international cultural and religious holiday that commemorates the death of Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland.  Typically this holiday is celebrated by drunken debauchery via loads of green beer and Irish whisky, along with heaps of tasty corned beef and cabbage and other hearty foods that toughen the stomach for this soulful celebration.

Good Lunch urges you to kick-off the festivities by ordering a lunch of hearty sausages from Rosamunde Sausage Grill, or the traditional Irish fare of corned beef from Smokin Warehouse Barbeque.  Check out what these two restaurants have to offer for your pre-party:

Smokin’ Warehouse Barbeque

  • Corned Beef Sandwich (this’ll hit the spot!) – slow cooked and sliced, on a bun with cornbread, comes with choice of side: French fries, baked beans, mac n cheese, steak chili, potato salad, or coleslaw.
  • Beef Brisket – slowly smoked and cooked for 10 hours, with house BBQ sauce on the side, comes by the pound.
  • Pulled Pork – tender, juicy pork with coleslaw on the side, also comes by the pound, (hope you’re hungry!).
  • Beef or Pork Ribs – full rack, comes with house BBQ sauce on the side.

Rosamunde Sausage Grill: All sausages come on a roll with sauerkraut, grilled onions, sweet peppers, and hot peppers on the side, plus your choice of 6 condiments: ketchup, curry ketchup, spicy brown mustard, Dijon mustard, honey wasabi mustard, or garlic pepper mayonnaise.  (Even though the sausage is rooted in German culture, it pairs nicely with a beer-drinking holiday like St. Paddy’s Day.)

  • Beer Sausage (how fitting) – smoked, spicy pork and beef sausage
  • Chicken Cherry Sausage – smoked with cherries
  • Andouille Sausage – Cajun smoked spicy pork
  • Vegan Smoked Apple Sage, Italian, Kielbasa – for our herbivore friends
  • German Potato Salad (the potato is Irish!) – smoked potato salad with vinaigrette and bacon

So pull out your leprechaun costume – or green shirt if you’re not a fairy elf – and hop on the St. Patrick’s Day wagon.  Your coworkers will want to dance the Irish jig in salute of the festive food they scarfed down before Saturday’s Irish celebration.

Login to Good Lunch and order from Rosamunde Sausage Grill, or Smokin Warehouse Barbeque, you’ll be thanking your Lucky Charms that you did.

Happy Lunching!

Join the craze, eat a sausage

Happy Thursday Good Lunchers!

If you like hot dogs, then you’ll think Rosamunde Sausage Grill is heaven.  It’s disrespectful to refer to Rosamunde‘s menu items as “hot dogs,” these are sausages; juicy, flavorful, scrumptious sausages – wrapped in a soft, crusty French roll, and doused with delectable fixings of your choosing.  And it’s your lucky day because Rosamunde Sausage Grill is one of Good Lunch‘s newest restaurant additions.

Rosamunde Sausage Grill offers a little bit of everything for everyone.  They offer duck, lamb, beef, chicken, pork, veal, boar, AND vegan sausage.  Their vegan sausages are as equally mouthwatering as their succulent brother sausages, just without the animal element.  So the non-carnivorous eater will be satisfied too.  Throw in some crispy French fries, baked beans or potato salad and you’ve just discovered culinary bliss.

Speaking of being satisfied, check out these sausage options:

  • Chicken Habanero Sausage – Smoked with tequila and habanero
  • Andouille Sausage – Cajun smoked spicy pork
  • Weisswurst Sausage – Veal, onion, and leek
  • Vegan Sausage – Choice of smoked apple sage, kielbasa, or Italian.

Toppings include sauerkraut, grilled onions, sweet or hot peppers, and beef chili, not to mention their long list of unique mustards and ketchups to include curry ketchup and wasabi mustard.  Tantalizing!

So jump on the sausage bandwagon and experience Rosamunde Sausage Grill where there is a sausage for every paletter.

Login to Good Lunch and order from Rosamunde Sausage Grill and we’ll happily deliver your lip-smacking sausages.

Ozumo’s crowd pleasing noodles

Hello Good Lunchers,

If you ask your average San Franciscan walking around downtown where to find the best sushi, chances are they’re going to say Ozumo.  Their sushi never disappoints.  I could pop them like peanut M&M’s if given the chance.  But Ozumo‘s sushi is not what we’re discussing today; it’s their noodle dishes.  Good Lunch recently added three scrumptious noodle dishes to their extensive Ozumo catering menu.

Ozumo Japanese cuisine is innovative and contemporary.  Their dishes are prepared with bold, intense flavors with an emphasis on high quality, fresh ingredients – hence the deliciousness.  I could write all day about their sushi, but again, we’re talking noodle dishes.  Like Ozumo‘s sushi, the ingredients in their noodle dishes are simple, yet beyond flavorful.  The bold and highest quality ingredients make for some tasty bites.  Check it out:

  • Maguro-Cha Soba Noodle Dish – Cha soba noodles, soy marinated tuna (seriously mouthwatering), radishes, nori, wasabi.
  • Tatsuta Soba Noodle Dish – Buckweat noodles, dry-fried chicken (that’s right, I said fried), shaved cabbage, goma sesame dressing.
  • Yasai Soba Noodle Dish-Green tea noodles, gree beans, crrots, cabbage and tomatoes with wasabi vinaigrette dressing.

So for that next meeting or event there is no need to vacillate between ordering sushi or noodle dishes, you just order both.  Everyone will be blown away because Ozumo can make both amazing sushi AND amazing noodle dishes.  What hungry tummy could ask for more?

Login to order or let us know if you want Good Lunch to plan your next lunch or breakfast.

Smokin’ Warehouse Barbecue…meat meat meat..

Dear Good Lunchers,

At Good Lunch we operate under the impression that you, our customer, have food cravings – we certainly do!  Sometimes it’s a craving for Indian food, or all of the sudden the hankering for tacos takes over your mind and body.  Well today is an excellent day, because Good Lunch is announcing the fabulous, stupendous restaurant that will satisfy your BBQ longing: Smokin’ Warehouse Barbeque.  Until now, there have been few restaurants outside of Texas to satisfy that down-home, smokin’, BBQ desire.  Well let the craving take you over, because Smokin’ Warehouse Barbeque is going to blow you away; it’s BBQ madness!

Smokin’ Warehouse Barbecue‘s chef and owner, Bill Lee, takes his BBQ very seriously.  Before the divine BBQ hits your plate, it goes on a journey; first, the meat is treated to a brine and dry rub, then it endures a 10-hour smoking process in dual smokers stoked with fruitwood – all of this to create perfectly tender, melt-in-your mouth meat that’s slathered in their house BBQ sauce, which comes in mild and hot, and is the perfect combination of sweet, spicy, and tangy with a flavorful kick to boot!

If you don’t have a fiery craving already, let us stoke your hankering further with their insanely tempting menu:

  • Platters- pork ribs, beef ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and seasoned BBQ chicken, served with 2 sides and cornbread.
  • Sandwiches- beef brisket, pulled pork, corned beef, chicken tender, Louisiana hotlink, served with 1 side and cornbread.
  • Burgers – cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, Monster Burger – ½ lb Angus beef burger with cheese and bacon, topped with slow cooked pulled pork, onion rings, and BBQ sauce, (insert Homer Simpson’s gurgling sound here), served with 1 side.
  • Sides- potato salad, coleslaw, French fries, chili cheese fries, baked beans with pork, steak chili with onions and cheese, mac n cheese, cornbread.

Smokin’ Warehouse Barbeque will leave you saying, “Texas has nothin on this BBQ!“  It’s juicy, smoky, tangy, and spicy all at the same time.

So login to Good Lunch and order from Smokin’ Warehouse Barbeque, your tummy will take a big sigh of relief because your BBQ itch will definitely be scratched.

Happy Lunching!

Look what we found!

Dear Good Lunchers,

We’ve found a new and amazing Thai place! Lers Ros.  Ever heard of them?  Lers Ros offers exceptional Thai food that is vibrant in flavor and appearance, true to its origin, and downright delicious.

Their menu is almost overwhelming with so much to choose from; it might make you dizzy. Therefore, let us assist in navigating their extensive menu by suggesting some of the following lively dishes:

  • Pad Kra Prow Moo Krob – Chewy pork belly, stir-fried with basil, and served in a thin, spicy brown sauce with strips of sweet red bell pepper.
  • Pra Ram Nuer – Sliced beef with spinach in peanut sauce.  Simple, but oh, oh, oh so tasty!
  • Kang Karee with meat or prawns – Yellow curry with potatoes, yellow onion, and carrots.

We could go on and on because their menu is crazy long!  But there is truly something for everyone: rice dishes, vegetarian options, pork, beef, poultry – need I continue?!

Lers Ros has magically found the balance between spicy, sour, sweet, and salty that authentic Thai food should embody.  It’s magic – because we have no idea how they make it so yummy!  Nevertheless you must try Lers Ros.

So login to Good Lunch and order from Lers Ros.  If the menu is too much for you to pilot, call us and let us know your party size and food preferences and we’ll do it for you.  We’re always here to help.

In the meantime…

Happy Lunching!

Hello Good Lunchers,

Sixty-three years ago California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand was born: In-N-Out Burger.

In-N-Out Burger is a West Coast institution, and we’re all its minions. We don’t need to delve into a description of their delicious offerings because everyone knows they have a straightforward, simple menu of burgers, fries, and drinks.  What we DO need to announce is for the next three weeks Good Lunch will be offering delivery from In-N-Out Burger. So let the celebrating begin!

In-N-Out’s burgers are made from fresh, 100%  pure beef, that is free of additives, fillers and preservatives of any kind. Every burger is cooked to order, and topped with crispy, hand leafed lettuce, real American cheese and delicious red tomatoes. They even bake their buns using old-fashioned, slow-rising sponge dough.

If you’re not a meat eater, don’t worry, you can order a Grilled Cheese or a Veggie Burger.

So no waiting in their drive-thru or walk-up line for you.  Let Good Lunch do the waiting.

Login before August 26th and order from In-N-Out Burger.

Indulge in Guilt Free Pizza!

Hello Good Lunchers!

As we all know ordering pizza is an easy option for a lunch meeting. You call in, order a few large ones (including a meat pizza and a veggie pizza), and they arrive. You leave the boxes on the table with a few cans of soda, napkins and some paper plates. Meeting attendees will grab a slice or two, a can of soda and eat while watching a Powerpoint presentation.

So, what’s wrong with this picture? It’s the guilt you are inflicting on your colleagues! You know that guilty feeling we all get after eating pizza? Yes that one. You’re a little too full, but not totally.  You feel weighed down by all that grease and cheap doughy crust.

Why not up the ante on your everyday pizza and treat your meeting attendees to a guilt free pizza from Zuppa?

Zuppa‘s thin crust, gourmet pizzas (your choice of; Wild Mushroom, Sausage, White, Colazione or Margherita) are made with fresh, house made dough. Every ingredient used is fresh, organic and from our local farms.

May we recommend their Sausage pizza, with house made sausage and fresh organic red bell peppers. Accompanied by their Spring Mix salad, baby lettuce, red and gold beets and watermelon radish, you can create a delectable pizza meal that’s light, delicious and fresh.  Best of all, it doesn’t leave your colleagues feeling heavy and guilty for the rest of the day.

After all feeding your colleagues is your responsibility. Order responsibly.

To order Login -> Future Delivery -> Zuppa.

So while it’s a restaurant, it’s also the city’s best alimentari, where you can bring empty bottles and get them filled with olive oil or vinegar, or pick up a chunk of cheese.

The menu includes delicious paninis such as: smoked salmon, avocado and goat cheese, or grilled vegetables and smoked mozzarella, all served on fresh ciabatta bread with salad. Also popular is Gnocchi al Ragu, a fantastic house made organic potato dumpling served with meat ragu.

Paninis and pastas are great for large office meetings. You can order catering style or as individual boxed lunches.

Bill Clinton went vegan!

Hello Good Lunchers,Veganism – silly you say.  Get this, because of heart disease (and the need to lose weight for Chelsea’s wedding) Bill Clinton, the man famous for his love of Mc Donald’s and junk food went vegan. Well almost, he told Dr. Sanjay Gupta that he has one bite of Turkey on Thanksgiving.  He’s lost over 20 lbs! New York Times reports, Bill Clinton now consumes no meat, dairy or eggs and almost no oil.  Instead his diet consists almost exclusively of fruits and vegetables – causing him to feel healthier than he ever has.

Its hard to maintain a vegan diet, you say. There are several fabulous vegan restaurants in San Francisco that we promise even meat lovers will enjoy their food. Good Lunch delivers from them right to your office.

We want to invite you to introduce your colleagues to some amazingly healthy and delicious vegan food. Both Gracias Madre and Café Gratitude are 100% organic, vegan, and 100% filling.

Lers Ros Thai for your next office lunch
